Tales of the FOMO

July 27, 2022 ~ Kate ~ 1 Comment

Or as they call it in New Orleans, FeauxMeaux. Most people hope to see a second line when they visit New Orleans, unfortunately, I saw one before leaving for the airport. I'm not going to lie - there was a tiny part of me that tried to rationalize the idea of going anyway. "Most people … Continue reading Tales of the FOMO

Tales of the Cocktail 2022

July 22, 2022July 22, 2022 ~ Kate ~ Leave a comment

After doing a very abbreviated version of Tales in 2018, we've been anxious to get back and check it out properly. Since this seems to be our summer of "DO ALL THE THINGS," we are headed south to experience a full week of Tales of the Cocktail. Here's how the schedule is shaping up so … Continue reading Tales of the Cocktail 2022

I tested negative on two tests, for two days in a row - yay! And my last dose of Paxvolid was this morning, so I really look forward to getting this awful taste out of my mouth (pro-tip: Big Red gum and Hot Tamales were the only things that helped). Left the house today (masked, per CDC guidelines), for the first time since Monday’s lab appointment, and ran into a few friends which was nice. But now I’m just extra exhausted. Welcome to my #FOMO #EffCOVID #totc #totc2022 drinkalong! I confirmed that alcohol won’t interfere with my meds so here we go! Not the second line one hopes to see when heading to New Orleans. (Full credit to @_cmikk for that joke.) Got it lab confirmed (with a side of bronchitis!) and start antivirals later today. At least the MN weather this week is lovely? https://www.instagram.com/reel/CgXY7u-pqz7/ It took me three tries to get the flavor and texture right for my Ramos Gin Fizz mallows, but it was worth it. Then a friend sent me a picture of the Ramos they had a while back @theroosevelt_no (where we will be staying) and I realized I needed to make one more tweak - circles. Part of the beauty of this cocktail is watching the meringue-like foam rise out of the glass, and it rarely looks exactly the same way twice. Last project done! Fernetermint Patties. The chocolate wasn’t as well tempered as I’d like, but doing chocolate work on a hot day is stupid.
