Drink for a Cause: $10 Tie Sale @DuNordCS

October 7, 2015 ~ Kate ~ Leave a comment

When local bars/tap rooms/cocktail rooms team up with good causes, everyone wins. The establishment gets business, an organization makes some needed funds, and you get to tell your boss you were at a fundraiser (which sounds way better than "I was at the bar all night!). This particular event has the added benefit of adding … Continue reading Drink for a Cause: $10 Tie Sale @DuNordCS

@ThirstNetwork at Iron Bartender

October 4, 2015July 10, 2018 ~ Kate ~ Leave a comment

The newly launched Thirst Network, conceived of in part by Lee Egbert of 11 Wells and Dashfire Bitters, is out in force at the Iron Bartender finals. This project hopes to be the definitive resource for beverage media, with support from some of the best local bars, coffee shops, distillers, and more. http://www.thirstnetwork.com/

Iron Bartender Finals

The first match up tonight is Tattersall vs. Hola Arepa. Battle of the syrups! (Seriously, both teams have an intimidating lineup of syrup bottles at the front of their bars.)

This was a delicious taste of spring, even if Duluth is cold and foggy tonight. @hendricksgin with cucumber, dill, lime, simple, @stgermaindrinks and salt. A refreshing end to a lovely evening @the_rathskeller We’ve been meaning to check out Bungo @norseman_distillery and the stars finally aligned tonight. With prizes from @3leche_mpls and @drywitdrink we get to (hopefully) win prizes made by friends at a game hosted by the delightful @cruisinconnor The verdict on the color changing marshmallow is that they toast a little oddly, and look like they should be bubble gum flavored (but we’re glad they aren’t). Ready for packaging! The @newbelgium_foco taproom has become a must stop every time we’re in Fort Collins visiting the kid. Not only is the beer delicious, but the patio is open and inviting. It feels like they’ve put a ton of effort into being a friendly, fun, and accessible space for all and that warmth just exudes from the space. Also, tons of puppers. We’ve been watching the Herbst Market space since moving into the neighborhood seven years ago, always hoping for something wonderful to inhabit the beautiful old space. Our dreams came true and we had get in ASAP to enjoy them at one of the @herbstsaintpaul pre-opening dinners. The interior feels alive with sunshine, the horseshoe bar is reminiscent of a Parisian brasserie, and the dinner tasted of springtime. (This, of course, will change frequently as they source food from local farms.) Finally made it in to @randtowerhotelminneapolis for drinks @miaoumiaoumpls and dinner @blondettempls - what a gorgeous building! I started with the Room 8 at Miaou Miaou, calvados, palo cortisol sherry, green chartreuse, pineau des charentes. Next week, Arlo turns 18! Between that monumental birthday and his acceptance into the @uwrfadmissions Food Science program, it felt like a good year to splash out on a very special birthday dinner. We celebrated early @spoonandstable for their @nancysilverton Synergy dinner. Since he’s doing a Senior project on baking, it felt like a perfect fit.
